Robert Harris, doing what he does, as well as he always does it. One man's quest for the truth in the face of adversity - pretty standard fare for Mr Harris. There's not much in the way of plot twists and turns, but the setting is cleverly portrayed (appeasement, and the growth of the Reich serve as a backdrop for this investigation. Worth a read if you like your crime novels.

A good read.. Reminded me of another good crime novel, "Child 44" by T. R. Smith, which is set in the Soviet Union.. Anyways, I'm inclined to check out his other novels.. Hopefully they won't be cookie-cutter offerings like D. Brown or Wilbur Smith..

A thriller based on a counterfactual premise (that the Nazis won World War II and established a Reich stretching from the Atlantic to the Urals), where an honest German cop's investigation of a murder leads him to uncover evidence of genocide. Remarkable for its evocation of Hitler's goals fulfilled, and the way the author keeps you in suspense with revelations of the Holocaust,...more

A work of fiction assuming that Germany never lost the second world war and that the tactics of the SS and secret police continued on under Hitler. Chilling stuff and believable
