Fascinating collection of short stories about relationships and love. I especially enjoyed the interconnected-ness of the second half of the book, the 'Lola' stories. I do get frustrated with short stories in general in that I start to invest in a character and end up wanting to read more, then the story ends. Overall, an engaging read.

Eyre writes with poignancy and wry humor, and I enjoyed this book, which is divided into two parts: the first half features a rather disjointed collection of stories featuring predominately young, pregnant women experiencing varying degrees of inner turmoil, the latter half (my favorite...more
 It's hard to review a book of short stories--it's a whole different creature than a novel. Eyre writes with poignancy and wry humor, and I enjoyed this book, which is divided into two parts: the first half features a rather disjointed collection of stories featuring predominately young, pregnant women experiencing varying degrees of inner turmoil, the latter half (my favorite part) follows the same character (Lola) from college through motherhood. I think Eyre is most successful when she gives herself more time to develop a character, like in the Lola stories; the first half of the book felt a little random.   hide
