I'm honestly not sure how I felt about this one. I've heard forever that Lee is the master of Hardcore horror and, while that may be true, he's certainly not the master of plotting, characterization, or writing a horror novel that's SCARY. Still, the repetitive violence and sex left me deeply unsettled (he puts the HARD in HARDCORE, that's for sure) but overall this was a pretty mediocre story....

The biggest problem I think I had (besides it being populated with obvious tired stereotypes) was the fact that there was never really anything at stake. The protagonist digs into the history of the town, learns some horrifying things and is almost in danger-- once.
