In just 150 pages Bukowski manages to offer such a strong depiction of misery, frustration and escapism from a relentlessly repeating reality that... the book is not recommended if you are on holidays!Jokes apart, a really strong, original writing that twists the knife right inside American dream's rotten side.

It's Bukowski - what more do you need to know? OK, this, along with Factotum, might be the most accessable of his novels (of the ones I've read so far, anyhow), since it's focused a lot on the working life. Witty, moving and confrontational - everything you expect and want from the great man.

Bukowski's first book, it's pretty funny and will leave you with no desire to work in a Post Office.

An eye opener for me. There are other ways to live, to view life. Very interesting, very real, no fluff.

Entertaining book. Especially for those that have worked for the Post Office. I related with some of the things he went through. His best novel.

My first Bukowski, and I was instantly hooked. I feel good for people who don't feel Bukowski, because they don't have access to that world. But I also feel bad for people who don't feel Bukowski, because they don't have access to THAT world.

Charles Bukowski is a fascinating man. This is transgressive fiction, but I still believe that this is what his years at the post office were like. He is a man who has been beaten down by a) the system and b) his passion for women, never does his complain about his alcoholism. I'm chatting shit, please just read Post Office.
