A spectacularly Newfoundland-woman experience. You are transformed into the soul, mind and body of Helen, a woman pregnant with her fourth child when the Ocean Ranger oil rig goes down off the coast of Newfoundland during a storm killing all 84 aboard, including her husband.
I was 13 at the time, living in St. John's and I've often recounted my memories of the storm, usually with the phrase "I cannot describe the intensity of the storm. You'd have to be there."
This book takes you there. Moving, emotional, lovely. Just like life. Lisa Moore is a wonderfully talented author. I am looking forward to reading more of her work.
