I really hated this book. I enjoyed the first part where the author tells of her childhood, but after that, the book went downhill. I felt like I only got little glimpses of her life outside of her bedroom. A very disappointing read.

Ah! Finally an assigned reading actually worth the endeavor! Audre tells her fascinating life story of being a black, female, lesbian poet who's come out in a white, heterosexual world. How she's survived is beyond me, but it's an interesting account of perspective, for sure, that's beautifully written.

Incredible read.
