One of the best books I have ever read

The best book written by my favourite Indian author. Mistry beautifully weaves a fictional tale of 4 unusual set of 'friends' from different walks of life, with absolutely nothing in common, with the backdrop of a true political event in Indian history. The book makes your heart ache for the little joys and happy moments in this otherwise thoroughly dark novel.

An amazing story set in India which shows us that the consequences of our actions may set in motion a set of events which will change all of the main characters, and the country in which they live

Favorite book of all time at this point - or close to it. I was glad it was dauntingly thick as I just never wanted it to end.

very depressing, beautifully written but not for those looking for a pick me up.
