This is a very poignant story of a group of people, who by all accounts would not normally be friends, but due to circumstances in their lives, come to live together. Set in India during a time of political unrest, the book is powerful in its message of hope in spite of overwhelming odds against you.

FINALLY is the only word that i can think of on finishing this book. Badly written, too streched and no story. There is no plot in the book. The author is trying to connect loose ends by taking a concept of Emergency that happened in India. Again i say that the book can be a good read for prospective MBA candidates due to the vocab of Rohinton, rest it is a badly written book.
