East of the Mountains

Often the coming of age novel is considered a story about youth but this book deals with the story about a man who is dealing with old age and the end of his life. A great read not only about his reflections while walking through Washinton State but the flashback scenes from WW II.

This book always seemed to be in a hury, like the author didn't feel like he was fully saying what he wanted to say.

quite depressing!

Must read for anyone over 55. Page 1 ".....today is the day I am going to die" - page turner from there

Guterson is a wonderful writer!

An interesting look into the sanctity of life, death, and suffering.

Seems OK so far. Kinda sentimental for my taste.

What sounded like perhaps a depressing read from it's description was not at all. It was an inspirational journey through life and death.
