I didn't know what to expect when I picked this up. I initially wanted to read Fight Club by Palahniuk but since it wasn't available, I ended up with this. At first, when I started, it seemed a bit weird to me, and disjointed. And then, when I got used to his writing, thats when the magic happens. It was dark, twisted, definitely freaky and took me to places I had never gone before. The book...more

I was told about Palahniuk by my younger sister last year and since have been continually addicted to his writing. The demented mind sets of the characters, plot twisting story lines, and constant metaphors and analogies make this writer one of the most interesting and intriguing I have ever read. Diary is by far one of his best works. I absolutely love his constant saying of “what we don’t...more

I tend to gobble up Chuck Paluhniuk books. I know that has become kind of a social faux-pas: it's almost like saying Dan Brown is your favorite author. But, even though I usually can't read two of his books in a row because his style is tiring, I absolutely love his work and his insight. Diary might not be my favorite, but it drew me in. And as a side note: Chuck did write this book. The...more

First Palaniuk book I read. Being a down and out artist myself, I really loved the main character Misty, and understood her lack of motivation to create art. What I loved even more was this sort of weird mythology the story undertook about the island of which she lived on and how in short, saves itself from a cyclic peril by way of sacrificial artist every so often. Weird, but enthralling at the...more

I didn't like this one. I love Chuck Palahniuk, but this sad story was linear with very little unexpected excitement.

Reading "Diary" I reminded of my favorite book by Chuck Palahniuk: "Haunted". EEEERIE!!! CREEPY!!! WACKY!!! and very interesting, albeit somewhat confusing. The story involves a diary (duh!) and it's effect upon a trailer-trash-cum-art-school-alumna who marries a dude who's sole purpose, it seems, was to marry a woman who'd be an...more
