I wanted to like this book more than I did. Some of the essays were really interesting, especially toward the beginning; I really liked Amy Tan's "Yes and No" (but then again, I like pretty much anything Amy Tan writes.) I also enjoyed Ariel Dorfman's "Footnotes to a Double Life." The rest of the essays just kind of blended together for me, though . . .
