I enjoyed this book but it could have been 40 pages shorter considering Kagan is over redundant in his points

A painful attempt to explain away European reservations about America's foreign policy as a "psychology of weakness" - i.e the reason we oppose bombing people is that we don't have as many bombs as America does. Facile and dangerous

Clear-headed, thoughtful analysis conveyed in concise, very readable terms. Anyone who wants to understand why Europe and the US don't seem to support the same goals anymore will do themselves a service by reading this book. Extremely well done.

"Americans are from Mars, and Europeans are from Venus." Granted Kagan oversimplifies the differences between the United States and Europe, but highlights key differences worth considering. Kagan gives readers ammunition to loathe our European allies because if it wasn't for our preponderant military, Europe could not reap the benefits of their post-Kantian paradise.
