Psychological and smart. Really makes you think, and a book like that is definitely worth your time.

This book has its ups and downs. The end is pretty abrupt but I love the stuff about the main character's son Michael. I think I would have liked to read more about the dynamics of his family rather than his graduate school days. The two parts of his life don't really connect at all.
