I clicked on "reading" it, but honestly I got through about 1/3rd of it and had to return it to the library one month late! I loved "A Thousand Acres," but like the other Jane Smiley books I've read, this one is short on plot and long on writerly description. I like the way she describes things, but I need more plot! She borrowed "King Lear" for "A Thousand Acres," so I was free to enjoy her...

She borrowed "King Lear" for "A Thousand Acres," so I was free to enjoy her sentences, which are some of the best in the business. I think I'm done with Jane Smiley.
