It was interesting however some of the short stories did not seem to have any connection to the main story....it seemed to chopped up.

This is maybe the best short story collection I've read in years. The stories are a braid of smaller stories that weave together to describe one man's life and the impact, good and bad, he's had on the lives of those he's touched.
