Metamorphosis is maybe when of the most intelligent and knowledgable books I have read in years. Not only does it grab your attention from its first sentence, it also is a very accurate and detailed study of the psychology of adjustment, minority psychology, superiority/inferiority dynamics, functionality changes in the socially deviant and simply put; a genuine piece of philosophy.I haven't read the comic version of the book, but I have leafed through it, and it was pretty good too.   hide

i admire the normalcy with which he tells something so wild.

People are adding that they've read this book not realizing it's the graphic novel version of Kafka's work. I almost feel inspired to write on ALL of their walls. If all the reviewers are talking about the original and not the graphic novel, I bet at least 95% of the people who added this think it's the original story. If all the reviewers are talking about the original and not the graphic novel, I bet at least 95% of the people who added this think it's the original story. But alas, I won't, and they'll just live in their stupidity. Nevertheless, this is a brilliant adaptation of it. It leaves pretty much nothing out even though the words are sparse. Read it. Didn't really get why people talk it up so much. Anticlimactic and mediocre at best.Although I do have to say, Kafka's imagery of the sad life Gregor lives in his last days up to his death, is quite emotionally charged, and I genuinely felt bad for the bug.I just seriously think the book is given WAY too much credit, however. I was expecting something else.

A bit weird but interesting nonetheless. Kind of illustrates how relatively easy people find it to get used to extraordinary situations in next to no time, but the situation described is just too outlandish to be really convincing. It felt like I was reading an experiment in writing, which perhaps it was.

Brilliant. Clever, funny but moving and sad too.

It was weird, i read this book when i was a junior in high school, i felt very starnge, my teacher said that we would feel nauseated by the book, and it was strange, i didnt feel that at all, i felt pain though, but not when he died, i felt pain when people try to bring him back in his room at that episode when he got out because he wanted to listen to his sister playing the violin. its only a...more
