I love Azar Nafisi's writing style. This is especially good because it is about her family and life in Iran. I highly recommend it.

Perhaps I am not a fan of memoirs, or perhaps I am not a fan of Nafisi's style (I couldn't get into Reading Lolita in Tehran either. I am finding this new book of memories nearly impossible to read: while it tells the recollections from Nafisi's childhood, it seems to be missing the depth of emotion I crave.

This invaluable memoir of Azar Nafisi, a former Tehran University Professor of English literature, gives you an interesting view about women lives before and after revolution, whereas involves you in dramatic interesting personal life of the writer's mother, a modern and at the same time weird woman. I absolutely loved the real pictures, that were all from her personal album.

Informative and entertaining look at life in upper class Iran, during the days of the Shah and before. The author also wrote "Reading Lolita in Tehran."
