I have to admit, I love Fannie Flagg (yes, she of Match Game fame, but also author of Fried Green Tomatoes, book and screenplay). Her latest isn't quite as good as some of her earlier books (especially Daisy May and the Miracle Man) but still it's light, cute southern fiction, with funny, quirky characters. This one is about Maggie, a former Miss Alabama, now 60 years old and ready to leave her life behind. Her attempts at suicide are continually interrupted by... life.
