This book kept me up late. I couldn't help but put myself in the place of mothers in Darfur. Daoud is an excellent communicator, I love his positve attitude in the darkest times. I recommend this book highly.

This book reminds me a bit of "Slaughterhouse Five" in that it portrays the senselessness of violence. The "voice" of the author is distinctly African. It has little to no explanation of the cause of this conflict, just a vivid telling of the impact. 
Friend at work loaned this to me.  I'm going to start reading it tonight.
