more A completely engaging book, and one can't help but apprecaite and respect John McCain's experiences after reading this memoir. Whatever his politics may be as he's running for president, this book is highly recommended for anyone who would like to get an insight into McCain's wild youth and his subsequent maturing during his POW experience. As the title says, this book deals significantly with the history and character of McCain's grandfather and father, who were both career Navy admirals, and uses their lives an influences upon John McCain III (the one we all know) and how they shaped his life and character. The book ends with McCain's release from Vietnam, and does not indulge at all in his post-war political life at all, and as such, it is a very well written and refreshingly candid. The book does not shy away from saying what he thinks and indeed, in the tradition of honourable men, even diiscusses and his own mistakes, highlighting McCain's sincerity and honesty.
