Great exploration how sisters are a part of one another no matter the difference. Adds to the wonder of having a sister.

I liked it more by the end than in the beginning. It took me a couple of weeks to get halfway through but then I just couldn't put it down. Maybe because of how long it took me to read it, I also didn't remember until the middle of the night that this was the same book that started with trying to inherit the aunt's jewelry.

I chose this because it was about two very different sisters, and I wanted to see if the author had anything I could use in my own sibling relationships. I'm not totally sure what compelled me about this book; I didn't relate exactly to either sister. Both were in the age range 25-35 and so I am sort of long past their kinds of illusions or sentiments or idealisms about life. But somehow the...more

I really got into this one. Julia Glass really hit the nail on the head with the sister relationship here. Intense, poignent, bittersweet and everlasting. Sisters. Well written.

Good read...sometimes slow moving, but just when you start to get discouraged Glass hits you with something so real and so beautifully written you just can't help but smile and go on. Complex characters. The end was a little hard to take--there were tears.

Great book. One of the more interesting narrative styles I've read in a long time. And a nice story about sisters, too. Highly recommended.

Really moving book on the 25 year often rocky relationship between two sisters. A little slow moving at the beginning but a really powerful end.

There's something very dreamy about Glass' writing style. I get to do a Q&A with the author in October at a STL Co. Library event! A story of two sisters, Clem and Louisa, and their lives together and apart. Anyone who has a sister could relate to the love, competition, anger, and ambivalence one can feel toward a sister. And the guilt you might feel for not knowing her better.
