There is a disorientation that comes from this juxtaposition, from the space between the gravity of Penny's charges and the hammed-up ire of her prose. I'm sure Penny's outrage is sincere, but often she lessens its force with her breeziness. sometimes, this may make for a more entertaining read but it almost always it diminishes the book's actual value.
