I wish I had as good an understanding of my emotions as these characters do. The way the book was formatted was quite nice, I enjoy reading from first person point of view lets you get into the mind set of the characters easier than third person. I love the twist as well in the story. Over all I recommend this book to anyone who likes a good story.

Excellent Southern gothic fiction. The past sins of the father harm everyone close to him as he tries to make to a new start by returning to his hometown. The high drama of this novel would have been forced and contrived in lesser hands but Yarborough never lost control of his characters.

This book is very confusing. The author has a habit of switching characters with no warning or explanation, leaving the reader confused as to who is talking. This format might work for someone else but it didn't work for me, despite the interesting plot.
