more I started reading this book after I had finished watching season one of the Showtime series Dexter, which is based on this first novel of the Dexter Morgan series. However, knowing the plot did not ruin this book for me, and that is in large part due to Jeff Lindsay's marvelous writing style. Style is extremely important for me when determining whether I like a book or not, because it is what most distinctly sets writers apart from each other. Lindsay has a very beautiful way with words and from the very first paragraph, where he used alliteration to a gleeful extent, he had me hooked. I am very much looking forward to reading the next two books, Dearly Devoted Dexter and Dexter in the Dark. And I am also happy to report that the Showtime series is a faithful and worthy adaptation and Michael C. Hall is doing an excellent job channelling Dexter Morgan.
