 Bob Arctor is a dealer of the lethally addictive drug Substance D. Fred is the police agent assigned to tail and eventually bust him. To do so, Fred takes on the identity of a drug dealer named Bob Arctor. And since Substance D--which Arctor takes in massive doses--gradually splits the user's brain into two distinct, combative entities, Fred doesn't realize he is narcing on himself.Caustically funny, eerily accurate in its depiction of junkies, scam artists, and the walking brain-dead, Philip K. This is arguably my favorite book of all time. Philip K Dick was ahead of his time, because the future he was talking about is sort of going on today... the subject of paranoia is indefinitely the scariest concept put to print.

It’s based heavily off the author’s own experience with drug use and offers a powerful and bizarre look into that world. An interesting look at the deterioration associated with the life of habitual drug use.Philp K. Dick offers a poingent yet respectful look at this often muddied subject. Tells the story of a helpless observer that realized all too late the gravity of the situations crashing in on him.

It was one of those books where you really have to pay attention to the story because it changes in an instant. I liked the concept of the book, i found it very interesting.
