This book follows the story of a group bound together on a commune in California and a a community in the Alaskan Bush. When the owner of the commune on farm in California runs into legal trouble a group heads north to the Alaskan bush. The book touches on a lot of interesting points, and describes the free love, drugs, racism, and rivalries of the commune.
One of the best and most realistic take on the 60's, its aspirations, failures, and, here, 1 success. Been reading Boyle since early undergrad, and this is one of my favorites of his.
