This was a fun end of summer read.  Even though it was light hearted, I was interested in the themes of reinvention.  I have read a couple of Lauren Weisberger's books now and although she writes Chick Lit that's pretty light and airy -- there are some things that can cause some personal examination.  I would recommend and plan to read her new book as soon as my number comes up at the library. ;)

Same story as Devil Wears Prada....but worse, and I didn't even like Devil Wears Prada.  Girl in a an uninspiring job quits it to join a PR firm, and gets swept away in the glitz and glamor, and then loses site of who she is.  Sound familiar?  But don't worry, in the end she learns how to be true to herself.

This book was very similar to The Devil Wears Prada. In fact, the rising action, climax, and even the ending almost mirrored The Devil Wears Prada. This book even had the same themes in it: demanding boss, unrequited love, defecating on friends that have treated you so well in the past. Very similar, indeed. I liked it, though. This was just what I needed on a snowy afternoon. I didn't have to...more

LOVED THIS!  Lauren Weisberger is so much fun to read, and her characters are believable and just all-around lovely.  Talented author, and definitely one I will be following.

I thought it would have the same formula as "The Devil Wears Prada"  but the story proved to be creative and completely different to the author's other novels.  I'm glad that there is a writer out there that portrays leading women's roles in a more realistic way... women who are smart, but fed up with some aspect of their life and take some creative (but human) step...more
 I thought it would have the same formula as "The Devil Wears Prada"  but the story proved to be creative and completely different to the author's other novels.  I'm glad that there is a writer out there that portrays leading women's roles in a more realistic way... women who are smart, but fed up with some aspect of their life and take some creative (but human) step to fix it. At least the tone of the characters is no whinny or bitchy like other authors tend to portray women.   hide
