its almost liek any other mystery books, with abit of detective work n investigation. what appealed to me was how the writer investigates every single clue, instead of the other usual books which only focus on those that is related to the crime

I REALLY enjoyed this. It was like Law and Order in 1699. Murder, religious zealots, a witch trial. Written in two parts, "Judgment of the Witch" and "Evil Unveiled", it's one of McCammon's best works, he's really maturing as a writer. I look forward to the sequel, "Queen of Bedlam".

Un très bon cru, à mi-chemin entre le fantastique et le thriller.

About 1/2 way through the book. Very well written so far. Characters well drawn. A good feel for what America was like before it was officially America - not even 13 colonies yet. decent amount of suspense. I would recommend this and will probably read more by the same author.

Never disliked McCammon, but always regarded him as a horror hack. This books is certainly NOT the work of a horror hack. Intelligent, exciting historical fiction. Now I need to re-read Boy's Life with a fresh eye.

Speaks the Nightbird, part one and two is a witch hunt that is full of suspense and intrigue. It contains scenes with explicit sexual content that is twisted and surprisingly erotic.

I definetly didn't know what I was getting myself into when I started this book. I had a hard time grasping the old English and the beginning was a little slow. But once the story line started to develop, I found myself loving every second of the book. I wanted to find out who the killer was just as badly as Matthew did.
