more If you love Roman History and intricate details of that world you will love this book. I am not a huge fan of that period in time, but I have to admit it was enlightening and I did learn a bit about a world history I had never really exposed myself to. Cleopatra comes across as a devious shrew, Marc Antony is a drunken fool, and Octavius is a megalomaniac along with his scheming wife. The only characters I found likeable were Caesarion,Agrippa, and Octavia. But to get back on topic liking the characters is not what it is about it is about intrigue, military expertise, and how corrupt "democracy" was. I have to admit it has made me curious about Julius Caesar. In this book he is spoken of in godlike terms. Was he truly as brilliant as they say or did he simply burn brighter in death than he did in life.
