WTF is this??? When did Dale Peck quit writing salty allegorical po-mo fiction and start writing Stephen King novels? Granted, his novel "Now It's Time To Say Goodbye" was such a pulpy delight that I literally gnawed through it in the space of one day at the beach, but even that book had a suitably spicy kick of gravitas. This book is, like, you know - NC-17 Buffy the Vampire Slayer, okay? I can't fib and say I didn't find the book gratifying as a frothy page-turner. It was a fine fantasy-adventure thriller. Buuuut...I kinda wanted a Dale Peck novel. This just happens to have his name on the cover. Weird. Next stop: Douglas Coupland authors a Twilight book.   hide
