The City & the Stars

A fine book by one of the masters of Sci-fi, The City & the Stars documents how humanity could turn out billions of years in the future. An excellent page-turner, I dare not say more as to avoid spoiling this fine novel.

This is the first book I read from my own volition, for this, and for the wonderful story that unfolds inside it will always be labeled as "My favorite book ever" and remain in a special place on my library, I still have my original copy and all. This is the first book I read from my own volition, for this, and for the wonderful story that unfolds inside it will always be labeled as "My favorite book ever" and remain in a special place on my library, I still have my original copy and all. As a side note, as when I read this book I was beginning to seek out who I was, process which has not finished yet if ever will, but which has calmed down and cemented somewhat, on this book I identified myself strongly with a character, one that I conveniently forgot until recently, and who had some influence on my life, and whom I plan to continue to emulate and follow as much as I can, and no, it's not the protagonist, but Khedron, the joker/fool of the city.   hide

This is one of Clarke's very best books--up alongside Rendezvous with Rama and 2001.
