This was a great novel about the Japanese invasion of Shanghai as told from the perspective of a ten year old boy named Jim. The entire book is told through his perspective of the world at that time in his life. He seems to be pretty naive and self centered, but most of us were at that time in our lives. This was a great novel about the Japanese invasion of Shanghai as told from the perspective of a ten year old boy named Jim. The entire book is told through his perspective of the world at that time in his life. He seems to be pretty naive and self centered, but most of us were at that time in our lives. The horrors that he had to deal with on a daily basis are more than most adults could endure, let alone survive. I really did enjoy this book and would recommend it to anyone interested in World War II.   hide
