more Decent read, although I was disappointed by the fact that Mills didn't really present anything new to seasoned readers (unlike Richard Dawkins, who builds amazing cases and adds to them with each new book) of the subject. The book does fill a well-defined need for freethinkers living in the United Theocracy of America. Michael Martin's 1993 textbook, The Case Against Christianity, simply fills this same need better. Martin's research-intensive work, in contrast with Mills', solidly puts forth an astounding breadth and depth of properly cited evidence. Unfortunately, Mills' lack of scholarly citation will allow CFs to rightly point out that the author is not sufficiently backing up his arguments. At least Mills tries to keep his discourse less overtly condescending and shrill than that of Christopher Hitchens or John Grant. So far though, I still feel Richard Dawkins is the absolute gold standard on the subject of scholarly atheism.
