A Complicated Kindness: A Novel

Love her stuff!

I enjoyed this novel but I was disappointed with the end. But, satisfied the protagonist can start a new chapter in her life (perhaps less troublesome). Reminds me of the teens I worked with. Definiely a good read; showed a small window in portraying difficulties experienced as a teenager living in a dysfunctional home life.

I read this because it came highly recommended. I kept reading because I was waiting for the good parts. It didn't happen. I kept thinking "she doesn't get it" and then finally, Naomi admits "I didn't get it". Yes. Exactly. It focused on the worst of Mennonite culture, leaving the whole group looking bad, which was also a huge disappointment.

Two great characters...totally unsatisfying read...blah!
