I loved this book in ways that I did not expect to. It gave a completely different outlook on parenting in the 1800s especially the way that it depicted fatherhood. It also contains the most beautiful pictures of Nathanial Hawthorne and his family. It is quite a simple book but it is so sweet and so easy to relate to even now.
