 The Book of Five Rings  is one of the most insightful texts on the subtle arts of confrontation and victory to emerge from Asian culture. The Book of Five Rings  was composed in 1643 by the famed duelist and undefeated samurai Miyamoto Musashi. Thomas Cleary's translation is immediately accessible, with an introduction that presents the spiritual background of the warrior tradition. More esoteric than the Art of War, but possibly deeper. Musashi was one of the greatest swordsmen who ever lived, never losing a single duel. He puts his life reflections on battle and bushido into this work.
Absolute classic. Necessary for anyone in war, business, or any other competitive endeavour.

The most comprehensive book on Japanese warfare tactics. The fact that the author, Miyamoto Musashi, was a self-trained swordsman who would fight using only wooden swords and remained undefeated throughout his life must be compelling enough for anyone who wants to survive in a cut-throat world.

One of my all time favorite books on life and strategy. Musashi was the most powerful undefeated Samurai warrior of all times, then he walked away from it, became a monk, made art and then left us this masterpiece. You can read it over and over on many levels. Even my son at age 9 loved it and has read it numerous times.
