Ragamuffin Gospel

I started reading Brennan Manning because so many authors I read quoted him. And this seemed like the book to start with. He is so overcome by the love of God that he just can't stop talking about it. I have read the book 2.5 times becasue there is much to savor in this book.

I truly believe that without God, I can do nothing. Along with this belief is low self-worth from not being able to do anything and worry that God does not like me as much if I am not able to be a perfect Christian. This book is revolutionary. love it!

Honestly I picked up this book because it said Rich mullins name on it. It was not until I went home that I relized he only wrote the forward or something like that. Honestly I picked up this book because it said Rich mullins name on it. It was not until I went home that I relized he only wrote the forward or something like that. I was disapointed but I read what he had to say and read the first chapter would have read the second immediatly after but could on the acoount my eyes were filled with tears and thats how I got to know Brennan's writting so Brennan change my Christianity but Rich guided me to the right path. An amazingly refreshing look at the Gospel as few have heard it - a message of love, grace, mercy, and acceptance for those who are despised and rejected in society, and unfortunately, by the Church. God, forgive us for rejecting Your love and for perverting Your truth to serve our selfish agendas. Amen.

Most religious/faith books can amount to little more than self-help books that don't really help all that much. But Manning's willingness to deal with hard issues, warts and all, is exactly what more people need in their lives. He gives the lie to some people's assumption that a life of faith is a cop-out or is easy, and he's humble and strong enough to face hard issues head-on.

Really great book. Great reminder of the gospel, for those who know they can't make it on their own, and those who are too prideful to admit it.
