This book has adorable knitted celebreties from Abe Lincoln and Godzilla to Madonna. It is photographed in a very appealing manner. The patterns aren't terribly easy to follow. There seem to be a number of steps skipped, incorrect instructions in some cases, and there are details pictured in the book that are not mentioned in the instructions at all. I would not recommend this book for beginners due to the lack of clear instructions; I had to improvise in some cases, rip out sections to correct things that weren't working, or redo pieces.If you are able to improvise, it's fairly easy to adapt the patterns to make one's own custom "icons." I made the Mummy and am planning some Star Trek characters.   hide
