Some of the information of backpacker's hostels is just flat out wrong but provides you with a place to at least start looking for lodging. This guide definitely covers the tourist destinations and is a good handbook if you are sticking to a planned safari or frequently traveled routes. For places a little outside the norm, you'll find the book to be not much more than a decent map and you are better off making friends and talking to other travelers at hostels, restaurants, and parks. Excellent travel guide especially considering that it is easily available at most chain bookstores here in the US and has decent coverage of recent history, economic complications, and regional practical wisdom.
