Awesome little book - can be read and enjoyed in one sitting. This is a retelling of the Odysseus legend from Penelope's POV - she and her 12 maids who he ordered to be killed upon his return from his odyssey. Written as part prose, part song verse (with the maids offering the song) it's quite simply brilliant storytelling. but then i would never expect anything less...more

I love Margaret Atwood's fiction...like Edith Wharton, she should stick w/social criticism and not attempt parody.

I guess I would like this better if there weren't a huge gap in my liberal arts education such that I know nothing about the Greek mythology.
