more The Founding details some of the first campaigns of they Tanith First and Only, or as they become known, Gaunt's Ghosts. There are a wide array of characters in this story, with a wide array of emotions, wants, goals, and needs. Abnett has the capacity to write thrilling scenes were you expect any moment the Tanith 1st to fall, yet through sheer courage (and sometimes luck or divine intervention) they pull it out at the last moment and survive another day. Unlike most war stories, where you feel like no matter how many fall, they'll keep going, in this series there is always the sense of a ticking clock, that every soldier that falls is a wound that can't heal. It captures the pain, the gritty nature and horror of war and you feel like your there, feeling the enemy shots whip by as you try to hold out for a little longer, to push that next few feet.
This is a definete buy for any Warhammer fans, for any fans of war or action books. If you've never liked either of those, give this book a try. I can almost guarentee it will change your mind.
