The Armour of Contempt (Gaunt's Ghosts)

While very well written, I was left unsatisfied at the end,... much like a well made computer game that is found seriously in need of an expansion or a sequel, and while that sequel is yet to be crafted by Mr. Abnett, I still very much enjoyed the text.

I read this right after "His Last Command". Unfortunately, it did not improve the storyline. While this book promises something of an epic story, as it is about the liberation of Gereon (the Chaos-held world that Gaunt and his men had been stranded on for years), it doesn't quite manage to deliver.The combat is pretty good, if a bit more chaotic than usual, and the newly introduced...more

Its gone one of the craziest battles ever in any Black Library book but its through the eyes of Dalin Criid. Lets just say his first deployment is a doozey! The Ghosts are away from the main conflict and causulties are very light (with one notable exception). There are many excellent and memorable scenes within and it wraps up the Gereon story arc started 3 novels ago. Its gotten to the point now where I fear the next book.
