The plot idea for this book was amazing, but I found it so incredibly boring, I couldn't finish it.

I am considering being truthful by saying I prefer this one to the Twilight series... I truly am... I have been having Host-related dreams (aliens, running away, etc.) since I have read it, so it has made an impression! If you are familiar with the Twilight series, you will fall prey to the charms of this one as well. This is a story about survival and embracing difference, with a...more

The first few chapters of the book was a little boring, so i was tempted to just put the book down and forget about it. But seeing as it was a book of Stephenie Meyer's, i willed myself to continue reading expecting it to get better. It did actually get better. i found some parts of it quite interesting especially where melenie is stuck in the back of wanderer's head and where Wanda...more

Can see this book turning into a movie like all her other books... interesting take on how humans could be taken over by an alien species! My only dislike was that it moved a little slow and the scenery never really changed much.... caves and desert were practically it for the descriptions other than the people... I realize that the relationships between Melanie and Wanderer were the core plot...more

I must admit that I truly had a love/ hate relationship with this book. For the most part I loathed it, it's the ultimate book of a lot going on but not much happening. But for whatever reason I couldn't not finish it, so by about half way I was truly hooked. By the end I loved it! I even cried. I look forward to reading the sequel but I know that like this one, I won't be able to bring...more

What an incredible story, I loved it! Even more than the Twilight saga. Maybe because I'm not a teenager, or maybe because that kind of story of human survival (Stephen King's The Stand comes to mind) really appeals to me. I would recommend this book to adults, not just the teens who no doubt are devouring this now that the Twilight Saga's complete. So if your kids have a shelf full of...more

I was hoping to find a story and characters here that captured my devotion just as 'Twilight' did, but sadly I didn't. An interesting idea that was totally wasted by Meyer. I found the sadly one-dimensional characters tedious and dull after a while and really couldnt have cared less about any of them.Probably a story that is enjoyed more by the younger readers, but certainly not a...more

At first, the book was a bit slowgoing. I had issues with some of the themes it provided as well as having just read through a very large, fantasy trilogy, I was a bit disconnected from 'the real world'. Once it got going though, I was hooked. It really focuses not on the science-fiction side, but more on the themes of human nature, society and all the things that make us human. I...more

Another great book by Meyer. It had a bit of a slow start and after reading the Twilight Saga it was very different, which I think is quite an accomplishment. What I love about her stories is the characters, I find myself missing them when I finish her books, and wondering what they would be doing like I would a friend. I found this book a particularly insightful book into the complexity of...more
