This is the WORST book I have EVER read. It was pathetic, boring, and stupid. I have never read a book that I despised even half this much.

This is an excellent story and should be read! I've never read any Oscar Wilde before and really enjoyed it. A desire for eternal youth and hedonism without any conscience for the consequences of a completely selfish and self satisfying life. Imagine what would happen though if we could see the consequences of those actions through a portrait..........we could see our own ugliness and selfishness...more

i was amazed at how well written this book was, because before downloading it on my ipod program, i had never heard of it, but i knew of oscar wilde... this book took me to different levels of thought over and over again, all while making me fall in love with, and feel horrible for, almost each character... i highly recommend a read

Flowery, must-read classic. Blends the thrill of the Gothic anti-hero with the overdescriptive, sensual hedonism valued by Wilde.

I found this book quite hard to read at first because the characters talked in long paragraphs. The storyline was good and the ending was really good. I loved the ending paragraph and it made the book seem better after reading it.

Jedna od rijetkih knjiga koje pamtim, mada sam ju čitala jako davno.

Worst book I have EVER read! Nothing more than a vehicle for Oscar Wilde to promote his deviant sexuality!!

quiet enjoyed this first encounter with Oscar Wilde. You can certainly see why he coused so much controversy and upset at the time! the book is realatively easy to read (apart from about 6 pages around the 100pg mark, which reminded me of the time i had to read the Illyad!) and explores vanity and the price peopel are willing to pay for it.

A surprisingly nasty book. The gimmick with the picture is only the backdrop to the real story, about how a young innocent can become so corrupted and debauched that he'll pretty much do anything.
