Fyodor provides penetrating insights into our capacity to choose evil or good. Then he builds upon that idea by showing how institutions developed by morally flawed people can magnify that evil or good. "The Grand Inquisitor" is a chapter worth reading on its own if the rest of the book is too heavy.

Fedor delves deeply into the human psyche and our propensity to do evil or good. We even develop institutions like churches to magnify the evil and good. One of the greatest chapters ever written is "The Grand Inquisitor."

Best novel ever. Nobody is able to create so deep, true and colourful characters as Dostoyevski. They are more real then the persons you know. Dostoyevski said that once created they had their own destiny and he was not more able to change it even he wanted. So he was constrained to change the scenery from his initial plan.

So far the characters are incredibly intense, short-sighted, impulsive. There are some thoughtful theological reflections though.
