more A devastating book.
Pilger is a giant in counter-establishment criticism, and this is possibly his most accessible and brutal piece of work.
Focusing on four key areas, and covering topics like the US army's intentional distribution of anti-personnel mines throughout the villages of Vietnam and surrounding areas, the unbelieve levels of racism directed toward the indigenous peoples of Australia, and the massacres and subsequent division of wealth in indonesia that ranks as maybe the 'civilised' world's worst hour, this book takes the reader through histories that have simply not been reported, and makes it hard to feel happy as a westerner.
Easier to read and digest than some of his peers, Pilger writes fast and accessible, but is no less weighty for it.
Important, brilliant, but soul-destroying.
