The satire of this book starts out humorous, a little bitter but still funny. As it goes along, it gets much darker and much harder to laugh at. Schuyler has such a dark opinion of humans and their nature that he paints every single person in this book a bad color, which is interesting but gets both depressing and tiresome as one reaches the end, particularly when the greedy and the quick (and hateful) end up successful.
