A decent story that the movie butchers. How often has that happened? Still the action is a little slow at points for the mordern reader, but many of Well's ideas, including posion gas, were well ahead of his time. Finally, yes the invaders died of disease.
I like turn of the century work but this was so far the worst. It really didn't connect with me. I would recomend it if you like the author, since it is one of his better works that I have read.
