Naturally these sins must be forgiven when you remember that this is Anne's Diary and therefore cannot be expected to follow a narrative arc. In her defense however despite being so young, 13 when she starts, she has a remarkably good vocabulary, and when one reads over the topics she is learning even in hiding one must confess one's self impressed, Anne for all the faults she admits to and relates as being brought up by others is certainly no dumby.
I found the parts, only recently allowed by her father, of Anne's gradual awakening to boys and the world around her interesting. Another interesting intellectual exercise was attempting to piece together the characters who don't get a say of their own in Anne's Diary like Margot and Peter.
