more Not up to Elton's highest standards, but a solid novel of a future distopia . Elton clearly and unapologetically homages 1984 but choses as his main satirical targets are features of 21st century British culture, some of which have felt the barb of his wit previously - including the celebrity culture, personal freedom and the value of literature, whilst adding a new and risque angle against dogmatic organised religion.
